Woman of Influence Award Dinner

Each year the Woman of Influence Award honors our founder, Pearl S. Buck, by recognizing women who continue in her footsteps.  The 2018 Woman of Influence, Judge Renée Cardwell Hughes (Ret.), joins a notable group of 34 past honorees including Laura Bush, Audrey Hepburn, Esther Hewlett, and Tony Morrison. Ms. Hughes is the recently retired CEO of the American Red Cross of Eastern PA and a former trial judge in Philadelphia.  She is a frequent speaker on success and leadership. You won’t want to miss her inspirational keynote acceptance speech!

The emcee for this year’s event is PA State Representative, Marguerite Quinn. Catering will be provided by Jamie Hollander Gourmet Foods & Catering. Proceeds benefit the work of Pearl S. Buck International in bridging culture and changing lives.

Bring your mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, or friend to this refined social event. Just two weeks before Mother’s Day, Pearl’s Tea & Garden Party featuring tea, finger foods, and sweets is a perfect ladies’ outing.  Wear your best hat, pearls, or a Mother’s Day ensemble to compete for prizes in the best-dressed contest with three age categories (Seniors, Adults, and Children 10 & Under). A raffle for lovely prizes also will be held.

Join local VIPs, dignitaries, and friends of Pearl S. Buck International for this gala gourmet event which showcases the area’s premier food and beverage offerings from local restaurants as well as food and drink purveyors. A panel of culinary judges will choose the winner of the Top Taste Award and guests will vote for the Fan Favorite Award. Beautiful and unique objects and experiences will be offered at a fun live auction and a silent auction. Held on the grounds and in the Estate Pavilion of the beautiful Pearl S. Buck estate, this is one perfectly delicious evening-out for foodies and friends!

All proceeds from this annual event benefit the work of Pearl S. Buck International in bridging cultures and changing lives through intercultural education, humanitarian work, and preservation of the Pearl S. Buck House, a National Historic Landmark.
